Transculturality, Poetry & Parallels

The Qantara Trio was founded in 2019 as part of the Bridges Chamber Orchestra and intertwines classical, traditional, and contemporary sounds from global contexts. In the rare combination of vocals, oud, and harp, the trio creates its own transcultural sound: the virtuosity of Arabic oud improvisation blends with enchanting harp melodies and a warm mezzo-soprano voice, forming a harmonious fusion of Arabic, Sephardic, and European melodies.

The musicians of the Qantara Trio arrange and compose their songs themselves. Their repertoire includes international art songs, chansons, folk songs, as well as atmospheric original compositions, offering a wide range of concert formats, including lecture concerts, transcultural song evenings, musical fairy tales for adults, and baby concerts.

The Qantara Trio performs in various venues, such as on the occasion of political events at Frankfurt's Paulskirche and Airport, at the Kronberg Academy, in concert series by the KfW Foundation, and as part of a television concert on Bielefeld's Kanal 21 (2022).

In co-production with the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the Qantara Trio developed its program "Yalla!" for babies & toddlers in 2023, which was performed at venues such as the Cologne Philharmonie, the Kulturwerke Monheim, and the Frankfurt Opera. In autumn 2023, the debut album "Lunar Whispers" was released on Spotify and all major platforms
